In the 1850 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 49-year-old Alexanders household consists of his wife, Elizabeth Sellers McCaslin (age 47), his sons, John (age 24) and Allen (age 19), and his daughters, Sarah (age 21), Emeline (age 14) and Mary (age 8). His daughter Elizabeth who should be 12 years old on this census, is missing and may have died. Alexander, John and Allen are all listed as farmers and Alexander has property worth $6,600, the highest value on this page. His brother James is living six farms away, close enough so that their census information is recorded on the same page.

Sarah was buried 2 May 1902 in Franklin, Indiana, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
