Shared note
|
His name is transcribed as Sewell in the 1860 census where the transcriber mistook the L for an S. See the L on his sons name ( should have been Lowell) , and as Levwell B. in the 1880 census where the transcriber had a problem with the lined paper. The 1850 census for Upton, Worcester, Massachusetts gives his name correctly as Lowell Fay. I found him in the later censuses by looking for his wife and children. The 1850 US Federal Census for Upton, Massachuesetts says he had property worth $7000, but the 1860 US Federal Census for Oxford, Wisconsin says he only owned property worth $135.00 The Fay Family History states that he went to Wisconsin in 1856. |
