In the 1910 US Federal Census for Noble, Cass, Indiana, 33-year-old Indiana-born Hollis C Cover and his 30-year-old Indiana-born wife Bessie [Blackketter] Cover have been married thirteen years. Bessie has born three children, all are living. These three Indiana-born children are 11-year-old Lucile, 8-year-old Wade and 6-year-old Immogene. All three children have attended school in the past year. Hollis is a public school instructor and has had no months out of work in the past year. The family is living in a house on Pleasant Grove Pike, which Hollis owns, but with a mortgage. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Logansport, Eel Township, Cass, Indiana, 40-year-old Indiana-born Mrs Bessie Cover is head of a household which contains two of her three Indiana-born children, 18-year-old Wade, and 16-year-old Imogine [sic]. Neither child has attended school in the past year as both are employed, Wade as a railroad electrician and Immogine as a dry goods clerk. Bessie has no occupation.
The family is living in a rented house at 300 E North Street. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana. Bessie's husband, Hollis Cover is not in this household and cannot be located on the 1920 Census, although he reappears on the 1930 Census.
