In the 1930 US Federal Census for Crane, Pierce, Stone, Missouri, 63-year-old Arkansas-born Jessie [sic] C Lane and his 50-year-old Missouri-born wife Mary [Cloud] Lane were married for the first time whe he was 28-years old and she was 35-years old. This indicates that this is a second marriage for Jesse, but first marriage for Mary. They have in their household, 26-year-old Missouri-born Willis E, the son of Jesse and his first wife, LaDora Torbitt Land, and their daughter, 5-year-old [sic] Missouri-born Ada B Lane. The family is living in a house that Jesse owns, worth $1,200, on Maude Ave. Willis is absent on the day of the census as he is a traveling salesman for a hardware company. He has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Jesse and Mary have no employment. Ada has not attended school. All the adults are literate and can speak English. Jesse's father was born in Missouri and his mother in Arkansas; Mary's father was born in Missouri and her mother in Tennessee; Willis' father was born in Arkansas and his mother in Missouri; Ada's father was born in Arkansas and her mother in Missouri.
