In the 1850 US Federal Census for Jasper, Crawford, Arkansas, 50-year-old Georgia-born farmer Charles C and his 30-year-old Missouri-born wife Manerva [Hobaugh] Lane have in their household their Missouri-born children, 14-year-old Phillis [sic] P, 11-year-old Caroline, 8-year-old Martha, 10-year-old Francis M [sic Charles], 6-year-old Nancy, 4-year-old twins Mary A and Henry H and 2-year-old James. Also in this household is Manerva's brother 24-year-old Missouri-born farm laborer Andrew Hobaugh. Neither Manerva nor Andrew can read and write. On 2 Nov 1862, Charles M Lane enlisted in Company D, 1st Arkansas Cavalry for the duration of the Civil War. On 25 Jun 1863, George K Porter, M.G. married Charles M Lane and Amanda McCaslin, borh of Barry County, Missouri. On 23 Aug 1865, Charles M Lane was discharged. Charles filed for an Invalid claim on 20 Apr 1891 |
