Both state that they are single and unmarried. [sic] This applcation is recorded by M T Rawler and approved by Harry Y Hall, deputy.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, 35-year-old, Texas-born Charles J Abshier and his 35-year-old, Kansas-born wife, Pearl [sic Perle] [Empie Yancey] Abshier have in their household Perle's 11-year-old, Missouri-born son, Don [sic Donn] E Yancey who is recorded with the last name of Abshier. The family is living in a house that Charles owns (with a mortgage) at 5610 East 27th. Charles is an electrician, Perle has no occupation and Donn is attending school. Charles' parents were born in Texas. Perle's father was born in Wisconsin and her mother in Indiana.
