Shared note

John Winchester was Richard and Lydia [Dodge] Winchester's only child.

Lydia was a devout woman with both mental and physical strength. She became blind late in life, which was attributed to overuse of her eyes at night in work and study. She was the tailor for the Haydon County [sic] community. Her blindness is confirmed by the 1850 census for Hamilton, LaRue, Kentucky where Lydia Winchester, age 92 and blind, is living with her granddaughter, Elizabeth Winchester Lemons Pearman, in a blended family as this is a second marriage for both Elizabeth and her husband, Price Pearman.

Lydia [Dodge] Winchester died 10 Dec 1851 in LaRue County, Kentucky.
