In the 1900 US Federal Census for Elmore, Faribault, Minnesota, 40-year-old Canadian day laborer William and his 30-year-old Minnesota-born wife Frances E [Newman] Collison have been married 14 years and have had six children, all of whom are living with them. These six Minnesota-born children are 12-year-old Cecil L, 10-year-old Elwin, 9-year-old Bessie, 7-year-old Eva L, 4-year-old Lyle, and 2-year-old Harold E. Cecil, Elwin, Bessie and Eva have attended school nine month of the past year. William, Frances, Cecil, Elwin, Bessie and Eva can read, write and speak English. William has had no months out of work in the past year. He owns the house they live in, free of mortgage. William's parents were born in Canada, while Frances' father was born in Germany and her mother in Canada. The year of William's immigration to the US is not known.

In the 1910 US Federal Census for Elmore, Faribault, Minnesota, 49-year-old Canadian William and his 40-year-old Minnesota-born wife Frances E [Newman] Collison have been married 23 years and have had six children, all of whom are living with them. These six Minnesota-born children are 22-year-old Cecil L, 20-year-old Elwin, 18-year-old Bessie, 16-year-old Eva L, 14-year-old Lyle, and 12-year-old Harold. William is a teamster for a tile factory, Cecil is a general farm laborer, Bessie is a seamstress for a private family, and Eva is a hired girl for a private family. Lyle and Harold have attended school in the past year. Everyone can read write and speak English. The family is living in a house that William owns, free of mortgage, on Henry Street. William's parents were born in Canada, while Frances' father was born in Germany and her mother in Canada.

In 1918, when 27-year-old Elwin Vern Collison registers for the WWI draft, he is living at RR#1, Deer Park, Washington; he was born 6 Aug 1889 in Easton, Minnesota and is a natural born citizen. He is a self employed farmer in Deer Park, Washington and is married with a wife and two children, and he claims exemption on their behalf. His description is medium height and build with grey eyes and light brown hair. He is not bald and has no disqualifying injuries.
