The Franklin Democrat, Friday, February 8, 1901 DEATH'S HARVEST

GEORGE R. WHITE.

George R. White died Thursday, January 31, at his home in Peoga, of pneumonia, superinduced by an attack of la grippe. For many years he had sold a medical preparation of his own manufacture and through canvassing territory for its sale had become widely known. He abandoned this about two years ago and after the establishment of the postoffice at Peoga started a grocery store there, which he was conducting when taken sick.

Deceased was born in Clark Township and was sixty-five years old at the time of his death. He had been twice married. [sic] The second wife, formerly Miss Pearl Porter, daughter of Francis Porter, survives, also a son by a former marriage, A. G. White, conductor on the "dinky" line between Louisville and New Albany, and a daughter, Mrs. Will Jones, of Indianapolis. Neither was able to attend the funeral owing to sickness, the former being down with an attack of typhoid fever. Funeral services were held Saturday and the remains taken to Hurricane for burial.
