In the 1900 US Federal Census for Graham, Jefferson, Indiana, 51-year-old Indiana-born farmer Butler [William Butler, transcribed as Baller] and his 45-year-old Indiana-born wife Lelia M [McCaslin] Blake have been married 26-years and have had two children but only one child, 16-year-old Indiana-born farm laborer Gary L [Gerry], is living. The family is literate and can speak English. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana. William owns his farm free of mortgage.

On 9 May 1904, Gerry L Blake married Lula Barkdall in Marion County, Indiana. It is not known if she died or they divorced before 18 Jan 1913 when Gerry married Myrtle [Dewey] McClain also in Marion County, Indiana.

On 12 Sep 1918, when 34-year-old Gerry Leonard Blake registers for the WWI draft, he states that he is living at RR 1, Deputy, Jefferson, Indiana, that he was born 20 December 1883, that he is white and a native born citizen. He is a self employed farmer at RR 1, Deputy, Jefferson, Indiana and his nearest relative is his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Blake of the same address. His description is medium height and build with blue eyes and brown hair. He has not physicial problems which would preclude military service.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Graham, Jefferson,Indiana, 36-year-old Indiana-born farmer Gerry L [transcribed Gerri] and his 26-year-old Indiana-born [second wife] Myrtle C [Dewey McClain] Blake have in their family their Indiana-born children, 6-year-old Chester E, 4-year 7-month old Dora Lee, 3-year 5-month old Dortha M, and 1-year 1-month old Mary E. Chester has attended school in the past year. Gerry and Myrtle are literate. Gerry is farming acreage he owns, but with a mortgage. The farm is on Snookey Row Road next to the residence of Mary A and Laura B Nay, which is where Gerry's father William's farm was recorded in the 1910 census; it looks as if he is farming land that used to belong to his father.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, 45-year-old Indiana Gerry L and his 36-year-old Indiana-born second wife Myrtle N [sic] [Dewey McClain] Blake have in their household their Indiana-born children, 14-year-old Dora L, 13-year-old Dorothy, 11-year-old Mary E, 9-year-old Elsie M, 6-year-old Kathleen and 2-year 2-month old Gerry Jr. Gerry Sr was married for the first time when he was 19-years old. Myrtle was married for the first time when she was 16-years old. The family is living in a rented house at 1507 North Montcalm Street, for which they pay $16 a month rent. They do not have a radio. All the children except Gerry Jr are attending school. Everyone except the three youngest children can read and write. Gerry Sr is a machinist in a machine shop but hasn't worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Myrtle is a janitress in an office building and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana.Chester has left home and is working as a farm laborer in Jefferson, Morgan, Indiana.

On 27 Apr 1942, when 58-year-old Gerry Leonard Blake registers for the WWII Draft, he states that his place of residence is 231-41st Street, Moline, Rock Island, Illinois and his mailing address is the same. He does not have a phone He was born 20 Dec 1883 in Jefferson County, Indiana. His contact and place of emplyment are the Rock Island Arsenal. His description is white, 5 feet, 8 inches, 160 pounds, with blue eyes, gray hair and a light complexion. He has no other obvious physical characteristics.

Seventy-eight-year-old Gerry L Blake died on 25 Sep 1962 in Taylor County, Kentucky, which had also been his residence. He was buried in Floral Park Cemetery, Garden of Serenity, Section E, Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana (Find A Grave Memorial# 55721913).
