In the 1920 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 47-year-old Indiana-born house carpenter Clarence E and his 42-year-old Indiana-born wife Nannie [Nancy] A [Burgett] Hemphill have in their household their youngest son 19-year-old Indiana-born garage laborer Frederic A. The family is living in a rented house at 82 North Jordan. Clarence's younger brother, 39-year-old Indiana-born Robert E and his 36-year-old Indiana-born dressmaker wife Sarah Ethel [Burgett] Hemphill are living next door in a rented house at 50 North Jordan. Robert is a vetrinarian. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana.
