Shared note

In the 1880 US Federal Census for 6th Ward, Madison, Jefferson, Indiana, 44-year-old Indiana-born caulker Charles and his 42-year-old Indiana-born wife Nancy [McCaslin] have in their household their Indiana-born children, 23-year-old Oliver, 19-year-old Wm O [William], 14-year-old Della, 9-year-old Mary, 4-year-old James, and 2-year-old Mabel. Oliver is incapacitated with rheumatism and at home on the day of the census. William is a caulker like his father. Della and Mary are attending school. Eva is missing from the family and may be presumed to have died. The family is living on Maui Street.

The 1890-91 City Directory for Madison City, Jefferson, Indiana records Miss Mary Wykoff iving at the northwest corner of Main and McIntyre.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for 6th Ward, Madison Jefferson, Indiana, 65-year-old Charles and his 63-year-old wife Nancy [McCaslin] Wykoff have been married 44 years and have had eleven children, 6 of whom are living [I have been able to identify only nine children]. In their household are their Indiana-born children, 29-year-old Mary, 22-year-old Mable and 19-year-old Harry. Charles is a ship carpenter and Harry is a day laborer. The family is still living on Maui Street in a house Charles owns, but with a mortgage. All the family is literate. Charles' father was born in Virginia and his mother in Kentucky. Nancy's parents were born in Kentucky.
