He and his 40-year-old [44] Kentucky-born housekeeper wife Eliza [Anzeline] have in their household their children, 20-year-old [17] Indiana-born Martha,19-year-old Indiana-born Andrew [missing from the 1850 census], 17-year-old [15] Indiana-born James, 15-year-old [14 ]Indiana-born William [Thomas], 13-year-old [11] Indiana-born John [Oliver N], 10-year-old Indiana-born Mary, 8-year-old Richard, 5-year-old Indiana-born Susan [Addie Belle?], 3-year-old Missouri-born Fanny [Flora], and 1-year-old Missouri-born Elizabeth [Anna Laura].The birth places of the children would indicate that James and Anzeline moved to Missouri between 1855 and 1857.

In the 1870 US Federal Census for Nodaway, Page, Iowa, 54-year-old Kentucky-born A M [Anzeline McCaslin] Wycoff [sic] is keeping house for her children, 16-year-old A B [Addie Belle, Elizabeth on the 1860 Census], 14-year-old Flora, 13-year-old Annie, and 9-year-old Charlie. Addie, Flora, and Annie are recorded as being born in Indiana, whereas Charlie was born in Missouri. All of the children have attended school in the past year. Azeline's husband James Wykoff is not in this household and has not been located on the 1870 Census.

He is not Anna's brother, but probably her cousin.

Charles has been unemployed three months of the previous year. Jenell, James, Herbert, Lillie and Forest have attended school in the past year. The family is living in a house that James owns, free of mortgage, near the house of his father James W Weddle Sr.

Six of them are living with their parents, 30-year-old August [Charles on the last two census records], 27-year-old Jenel B [transcribed Iva B, very bad handwriting], 26-year-old James R [James W on the last census], 20-year-old Forest J [age transcribed as 29], 16-year-old Laura A and 11-year-old Margarette. [Lela M on the 1900 census]. All of these children were born in Missouri. August, James and Forest are blacksmiths in their father's shop. Jenel is a seamstress, working at home. Margaret is the only child attending school. Also in this household is James' 88-year-old Kentucky-born widowed mother, Anna [Cornett] Weddle. She has born 14 children but only eight are living. Everyone in the family can read and write except James' mother Anna. The family lives in a house that James owns free of mortgage on Oak Street.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Skidmore, Monroe, Nodaway, Missouri, 64-year-old Missouri-born blacksmith James W Weddle Jr and his 62-year-old Missouri-born wife Anna L [Wykoff] have in their household their youngest child, 21-year-old Missouri-born Marguerite. They are still living in the house on Oak Street worth $2,500 and they own a radio. James is a blacksmith who owns his smithy and he worked on the last regularly scheduled work day.

Anna Laura [Wykoff] Weddle died at home in Skidmore, Nodaway, Missouri, where she had lived for 38 years, on 7 Jun 1947 at 2:45 a.m. Her immediate cause of death was senility. Anna was the widow of James W Weddle. She was 89-years, 9-months, 27-days old when she died, having been born on 10 Aug 1857 in Maryville, Missouri. Her usual occupation was that of housewife. Her father's name was J W Wykoff, born at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and her mother's name was Anzeline McCaslin, birth place unknown. The informant was Mrs. Ham Bramble, of Skidmore, Missouri. Burial took place at Hill Crest Cemetery on 10 Jun 1947, the funeral director was Bess Holt of the Price Funeral Home, 120 E 1st, Maryville, Missouri.
