In the 1895 Kansas State Census for Burlingame, Osage, Kansas, 42-year-old Wisconsin-born insurance salesman G E [George Edward] and his 39-year-old Iowa-born wife Fl B [Flora Belle McCaslin] Empie have in their household their Kansas-born daughters, 14-year-old M A [Mary Ann] and 10-year-old P B [Pearl B]

In the 1900 Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, 48-year Wisconsin-born insurance saleman Geo E [George E] and his 44-year-old Iowa-born wife Belle [Flora Belle McCaslin] Empie have been married 25 years and have had three children but only two are living. These two are 19-year-old Kansas-born clerk Mary and 15-year-old Kansas-born schoolgirl Pearl. The family is living at 4146 East 14th Street in a rented house. The family is living in a house that Charles owns (with a mortgage) at 5610 East 27th. Charles is an electrician, Perle has no occupation and Donn is attending school. Charles' parents were born in Texas. Perle's father was born in Wisconsin and her mother in Indiana. Donn's father was born in Texas [sic Thomas Yancey was born in Missouri] and his mother in Kansas.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Victoria, Victoria, Texas, 43-year-old, Texas-born Chas [sic] J Abshier and his 42-year-old Kansas-born wife Pearl [sic Perle] [Empie Yancy] Abshier were married when he was 25- and she was 24-years-old. {sic this would be 1911 and their marriage license is dated 1915]. They are living in a duplex at 602 Santa Rosa, for which Charles pays rent of $20 a month. They have a radio. Charles is an electrician and is currently employed. Perle has no employment listed. Charles has not served in the military. Both are literate and speak English. Charles' parents were born in Texas. Perle's father was born in Wisconsin and her mother in Indiana.

In the 1940 US Federal Census for Justice Precinct 5, Victoria, Texas, 55-year-old, Texas-born Charles J Abshier and his 53-year-old Kansas-born wife Pearl [sic Perle] B [Empie Yancey] Abshier are living on a farm in a house worth $2000. They were living on a farm in rural Victoria County, Texas in 1935. Charles has completed two years of high school, Perle has completed four years of high school. Both are employed and not looking for work. Charles is a "building" electrician and owner of this business. He has worked 40 hours in the past week and 52 weeks in 1939. Since he is a business owner, he received no salary or wages, but has an outside source of income. Perle is a bookkeeper for her husband's business, has worked 40 hours in the past week and 52 weeks in 1939. She is an unpaid family worker. She has no outside source of income.

Mrs Perle [Empie Yancey] Abshier died at 6 p.m. on 5 Dec 1963 at the Victoria Hospital, Victoria, Victoria, Texas of heart failure due to coronary arteriosclerosis, interval between onset and death was one day. This diagnosis was made by Dr Allen H Shields who had treated Perle from 1 Jun 1958 to 5 Dec 1963. Perle was born 26 Feb 1885 in Burlingame, California [sic] and had lived in Victoria, Victoria, Texas for 44 years [moved there in 1919]. Her father was George Empie and her mother Floral [sic] Belle McCaslan [sic]. Her residence was at 108 E Warren, Victoria, Victoria, Texas. Informant was Donn Abshier of Nacogdoches, Texas. Removal for burial in Burlingame, Kansas was 6 Dec 1963 and handled by the McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home.
