Shared note | In the 1920 US Federal Census for Adams, Cass, Indiana, 62-year-old D R [Daniel R] and his 60-year-old wife, Lucy [McCaslin] Carson are living in a rented house on Main Street. Daniel and Lucy are listed as having no profession. Both are literate. Living next door, also in a rented house is their 29-year-old daughter, Doris [Carson] McGuire and her family, her husband 31-year-old Indiana-born butcher Walter McGuire and their two Indiana-born children, 6-year-old schoolgirl Alice and 3-year 8-month old Carson [Walter Carson, misidentified as a daughter]. Alice and her parents can read and write. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Rochester, Fulton, Indiana, 48-year-old meat cutter Walter and his 39-year-old wife Doris [Carson] McGuire were married when he was 23- and she was 21-years old. They have in their household their children, 17-year-old waitress Alice, 13-year-old schoolboy Carson [Walter Carson], and 5-year-old Frances. The family is living in a house they rent for $18 a month at 1315 Main Street and they have a radio. Walter and Alice have worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. On 21 September 1938, when 21-year-old Walter Carson McGuire applies for his Social Security Number, He is living at 1725 West Washington, Muncie, Delaware, Indiana and working for Sam Gargas at 1616 University in the same city. He states that he was born on 19 May 1916 in Mexico, Miami, Indiana, and that his parents are Walter Neil McGuire and Doris Carson. When Walter died on May 1984, he was living in Rochester, Fulton, Indiana 46975. Published in The Rochester Sentinel Wednesday, May 23, 1984 Dr. Carson McGuire Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Foster & Good Funeral Home for Dr. Carson McGUIRE, 68, Rochester dentist, who died Tuesday at 9:05 a.m. in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He resided on Rt. 7, north side of Lake Manitou. The Rev. John RAMSEY will officiate at rites and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of the service. The Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at the funeral home Thursday at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Manitou Training Center, in recognition of the lifetime concerrn of Dr. McGuire's daughter for special children. Dr. McGuire spent most of his life in this community, graduating from Rochester High School and returning here in 1945 after World War II service to begin the practice of dentistry. He had earned B.S. and D.D.S. degrees from Indiana University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Luzon in the Pacific theatre, and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant. Long acrive in civic affairs, Dr. McGuire served one term on the City Council as its president and was Republican candidate for mayor in 1963. Possessed of an accomplished baritone voice, he had performed frequently at local church, civic and social affairs. He also was a talented actor, helped found the Fulton County Players in 1965 and appeared in both lead and supporting roles of many of its productions of musicals, dramas and comedies. He was an active supporter of both RHS and Indiana University athletics. Born May 19, 1916, in Mexico, Ind., he was the son of Walter and Doris CARSON McGUIRE. His marriage was in April, 1938, to Luella TALLEN, who survives. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Churh, Elks and Moose lodges, American Legion, Rochester Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of South Bend. Also surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Larry (Frances "Tomi") HUYS, Valparaidso; two sons, Michael Carson [McGUIRE], Dallas, Texas, and James "Tim" [McGUIRE], Detroit; five grandchildren, Lynelle McGUIRE, Dallas; Anna Sue HUYS and Charles Carson HUYS, both of Valparaiso, and Alyssa and Everett Carson McGUIRE, both of Detroit; and a sister, Alice [Mrs. Dr. Harold] PERCIFIELD, Columbus, Ind.
