In the 1880 US Federal Census for Columbus, Cass, Indiana, 32-year-old Indiana-born farmer J [Jacob] Blackketter and his 24-year-old Indiana-born wife Nancy I (keeping house) have in their household their Indiana-born daughters, 5-year-old Josie, 2-year-old Linnie and 6-month old Bessie, and Nancys sister L C [Lucy C] Mc Coslin [McCaslin]. Living next door is Nancys brother, 29-year-old Indiana-born farmer J R Mc Coslin [McCaslin], his 26-year-old Indiana-born wife Hattie F and their daughter 4-year-old Indiana-born daughter, Mabel.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Bethlehem, Cass, Indiana, 52-year-old Indiana-born farmer Jacob W and his 43-year-old Indiana-born wife Isobelle N [Nancy Isobelle McCaslin] Blackketter have been married 26 years and have had six children, but only five are living. Two of the children are living with them, 17-year-old Indiana-born Della and 4-year-old Adam W. Della has attended school six months of the past year. Jacob, Nancy and Della are literate. Jacob owns the land he farms, but has a mortgage.

LATE DEATHS

Jacob W. F. Blacketter, an old and well known citizen of Logansport, died Saturday evening at 7:25 at his home 1318 Clifton avenue [sic], aged seventy years. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and one son: Mrs Josie Robinson, Logansport; Mrs Lynie [sic] Smith, Spring Creek; Mrs. Bessie Co- ver, Gary; Mrs. Della Kinnemann, Twelvemile and Mr. Wynn Blacketter, Logansport. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 from the residence conducted by Rev. E. L. Dakin of the Baptist Temple. Inter- ment will be made in Spring Creek cemetery [sic].
