In the 1920 US Federal Census for Valley Center, Sedgwick, Kansas, 27-year-old Missouri-born Mace D and his 23-year-old Kansas-born wife Anita [Miles] Mattley are living in a rented house on Avenue A. Mace is a salesman in a furniture store. His parents are recorded as being born in Iowa [his father was born in Indiana and his mother in Iowa]. Anitas father was born in Illinois and her mother in Missouri.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Plevna, Reno, Kansas, 38-year-old Missouri-born Mace [transcribed as Maca] and his 33-year Kansas-born old wife Anita [Miles] Mattley were married when he was 23- and she was 19-years old. They have in their household their son 5-year 4-month old Kenneth C. The family is living in a house [street address not recorded] for which they pay $25 a month rent. They have a radio. Mace is a cashier for the Plevna Bank and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He is not a veteran of WWI. His father was born in Indiana and his mother in Iowa. Anitas father was born in Illinois and her mother in Missouri.

Mace has completed two years of high school, Anita has completed four years of high school and Kenneth has completed one year of high school.
