The 1940 US Federal Census for Dodge City, Ford, Kansas records 24-year-old, Kansas-born Charley Wilkerson and his 24-year-old, Kansas-born wife Joy [sic] Marie [Mattley] Wilkerson as living in an apartment at 205 W Vine, for which they pay rent of $25 a month. They were living in the same place in 1935. Charley has completed two years of highschool, Joye has completed four years of high school. Charley is empoyed as a grocery store manager, has worked 55 hours in the past week and 52 weeks in the past year, earning $1,685. Joye is a housewife not looking for work. Neither has an outside source of income.

Charles W."Charlie" Wilkerson,jr. 68 died Jan.22, 1984 at Dodge City Regional Hospital. He was born May 24, 1915 in Gray County to Charley W. and Mary Ann McCormick Wilkerson. He married Joye Marie Mattley on Sept.15,1935 at Dodge City, KS.

He later married Alene Marshall Anschutz on Mar. 19, 1977 at Little River,KS. He was a retired grocer, service station owner, rancher and farmer and had been a lifetime resident of Dodge City, KS.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, St. Bernard Lodge No.222 AF&AM, both of Dodge City, Consistory, Midian Shrine both of Wichita, KS.

Survivors include wife, Alene and stepson, Gary Anschutz of Fort Smith Ark; brothers, J.E "Jack" of Yucaipa, Calif; A.J."Joe"" of Oklahoma City, Okla; Ervin L"Ernie" and J.Merle both of Dodge City, Ks.

Funeral at the Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Watters, officiating.
