Shared note

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Washington, Shelby, Indiana, 34-year-old Indiana-born farmer Elmore [Elmer] E and his 28-year-old Indiana-born wife Mary [Gue] Lee have been married for 9 years and have had four children but only three are living. These three are 7-year-old Indiana-born Carrie L, 3-year-old Indiana-born Maude A, and 2-year-old Indiana-born Albert. None of the children have attended school in the past year. Also in this household is Elmer's 25-year-old brother Indiana-born farm laborer George F Lee. Elmer is farming acreage that he owns which has a mortgage. Elmer's father was born in Indiana and his mother in New York. Mary's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in Indiana.

The information in the 1910 US Federal Census for Washington, Shelby, Indiana for the Elmer Lee family is confused. 44-year-old Elmer and his 37-year-old wife Mary are listed as having only one marriage so all the children should be theirs, but 17-year-old Carrie, and 14-year-old Maudie [Maude] Lee are listed as stepdaughters and since Elmer and Mary were married in 1890 this is not possible. The rest of the children are 12-year-old Albert, 9-year-old Ethel and 6-year-old Johny. Albert, Ethel and Johny have attended school in the past year. Everyone except Johny can read and write. Elmer is doing general farming on mortgaged land.

Twenty-seven-year-old Basil got counted twice on the 1920 US Federal Census for Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana as he is recorded as living with his mother, and in a rented house at 111 East 18th Street with his 18-year-old [sic shes 25] Indiana-born wife, Maude [Lee] Horner. Basil is a record clerk for an automobile company and Maude is a stenographer for an automobile company. Both read, write and speak English.

In the 1930 US Federal Census, 37-year-old Indiana-born Basil C and his 35-year-old Indiana-born wife Maude A [Lee] Horner were married when he was 25- and she was 23-years old. They are living in at 1241 West 33rd Avenue in a house that they own worth $5,000. They have a radio and they read, write and speak English. Basil is a mechanic for a motor company and Maude is a stenographer for the Frigidaire Company. Both have worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Basil is a veteran of WWI. Basils and Maudes parents were born in Indiana.

On 25 November 1936, when Maude Alice Lee Horner applies for a Social Security Number, she is living at 1241 West 33rd Street in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana and working for the Refrigerating Equipment Corporation at 931 N Meridan Street in the same city. She states that her father's name is Elmer Ellsworth Lee and her mother's name Mary Lucinda Gue.

Maude died on 2 Jan 1992 at Morgantown, Brown, Indiana 46160.
