Shared note

In the 1880 US Federal Census for Pleasant, Johnson, Indiana, 35-year-old Indiana-born farmer John W and his 31-year-old Indiana-born wife Mary E [Mary Emmaline McCaslin] McCarty have in their household their daughters, 9-year-old Missouri-born Olive, 7-year-old Missouri-born Lillian, 5-year-old Missouri-born Nelly, 3-year-old Indiana-born Annie and one-year-old Indiana-born Clara. Also in their household is the hired man 20-year-old Indiana-born Charles Robbins. Olive and Lillian have attended school in the past year. John and Mary were married in Jefferson County, Indiana, but must have moved to Missouri almost immediately as 9-year-old Olive was born there. The family moved back to Indiana after 1875 but before 1877 based on the birth places of Nelly and Annie.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for White River, Johnson, Indiana, 24-year-old Indiana-born farmer Samuel B and his 20-year-old Indiana-born wife Clara B [McCarty] Park have been married three years and have had two children. These Indiana-born children are one-year-old John D, and 4-month old Mary. Samuel is renting the land he farms. Samuel and Clara can read, write and speak English. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana.
