In the 1900 US Federal Census for Jordan, Jasper, Indiana, 35-year-old farmer John W and his 30-year-old wife Mary S [Adams] Iliff have been married ten years and have had four children, all of whom are living. However only three children are in their household, 9-year-old Homer C, and 7-year-old twins, Ethel and Edna. All three children are attending school. Also in this household is 19-year-old John Michaels who is the hired man. Jon is living next door to his 63-year-old father Stearns, and one farm away from his 30-year brother George M [sic-should be George K]. John is renting the land he farms.

Four of the children are in their household. 17-year-old twins, Edna and Ethel, 10-year-old Ray [who is the one missing from the 1900 census] and 3-year-old Mary. Edna, Ethel and Ray have all attended school in the past year. John, Mary, Edna and Ethel can read and write. John is renting the land he farms.
