In the 1900 US Federal Census for Marysville, Yuba, California, 37-year-old, New York-born widow Rosa Lunsford is head of a family consisting of her three of her five children. Theses three California-born children are18-year-old Mamie, 16-year-old Eddie and 14-year-old Maude. The family is living in a rented house at 117 D Street. Rosa is a housekeeper, Mamie is an apartment keeper [sic], and Eddie is learning preaching. Maude has attended school ten months of the past year. Everyone is literate and speaks English.
