In the 1920 US Federal Census for Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, 40-year-old insurance agent Frank J McCaslin and his 30-year-old wife Anna B [Wansley] and their children, 11-year-old Strausie and 9-year Collin H, are living at 917 East 43rd Street in a rented house. Both Strausie (named after Franks sister) and Collin Hill (named after Franks father) have attended school in the past year.

In 1929 and 1930, Strausie McCaslin is a member of the Class of 1930 at the University of Missouri (Columbia, Missouri). She is in the College of Arts and Sciences, and a member of Chi Omega: Panhellenic Council.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, 50-year-old manager of an insurance office Frank J McCaslin and his 40-year-old wife Anna B [Wansley] were married when he was 27 and she was 17. They and their children, 21-year-old Strausie and 19-year Collin H, are living at 420 West 59th Terrace (?) in a house they own, worth $13,000. Also living with them is a boarder, 35-year-old insurance salesman James E Wild. Both Frank and James have worked on the last business day before the census was taken. Frank is a veteran of WWI. From TWA Skyliner, June 1936, page 15, Venable-Miller Marriage, Kansas City, Missouri: "In addition to the girls from the accounting department and others from the headquarters base, Mrs. Searle Mulvaney and Mrs. Norwood Markham (Betty Baker and Straussie [sic] McCaslin), two former TWA employees of the accounting department, were present."

Strausie is a housewife and is not looking for work.
