In the 1900 US Federal Census for Jackson, Gentry, Missouri, 47-year-old physician Collin H McCaslin and his 47-year-old wife Retta B [Henrietta Branaman] have been married 23 years and have two children, 20-year-old Frank J and 18-year-old Strausie, both of whom are living with their parents in a house they own mortgage-free on Hampshire Street. Both Frank and Strausie have attended school for 9 months of the past year. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Columbia, Boone, Missouri, 48-year-old Mrs CH McCaslin and her children 20-year-old Frank and 18-year-old Strausie are recorded for a second time. Mrs McCaslin [Henrietta Branaman McCaslin] has been married for 23-years and has borne one child who is living [sic-she has borne two and they both are living with her]. They are all living in a rented house at 213 Hitt Street. Both Frank and Strausie have attended school for 9 months of the past year. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana.

On 21 Aug 1908 in Regent Square Presbyterian Church, Camden, London, 26-year-old bachelor Allen Carrington Hutcheson marries 26-year-old spinster Strausie McCaslin, both are living in Bloomsbury. Allen is a doctor. Strausie has no profession. Allen's father is lawyer Joseph Chappell Hutcheson and Strausie's father is Dr Collin Hill McCaslin. The witnesses are Henrietta B McCaslin [Strausie's mother] and Mary Frances Street [?]. John [?] J Robertson was the "authorized" witness.

On 15 February 1915, 33-year-old Allen Hutcheson, 33-year-old Strausie [McCaslin] Hutcheson and their children, 5-year-old Mildred C, 4-year-old Henrietta McC., and 2-year-old Allen C arrived in San Franciso, California (with 9 pieces of baggage) on the Manchuria from Shanghai on their way to Stanbury, Missouri.

On 5 Jun 1922, the ship Empress of Asia arrived at the port of Vancouver, British Columbia from Shanghai, China, carrying 40-year-old Allen Carrington Hutcheson, his wife 40-year-old Strausie [McCaslin] Hutcheson, and their four children, 13-year-old Mildren Carrington, 11-year-old Henrietta McCaslon [sic], 9-year-old Allen Carrington, and 2-year-old James Sterling. The family was on route to Stanberry, Missouri.

On 4 Jul 1927, 45-year-old Allen C Hutcheson, his wife 45-year-old Strausil [Strausie McCaslin] Hutcheson and their three children, 16-year-old Henrietta, 14-year-old Allen C Jr, and 7-year-old James S arrived from Southampton, England on the Tuscania. They had left Southampton on 25 Jun 1927. Allen was born in Houston, Harris Texas, Strausie in Bethlehem, Indiana, Henrietta and Allen Jr in Kashing, China and James in Nanking, China. The passport number for the children, 256, was issued in Shanghai, China. The family's address in the United States was c/o J. Hutcheson, US Court, Houston, Texas.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Houston, Harris, Texas, 48-year-old physician Allen Hutcheson and his 48-year-old wife Strausie [McCaslin] Hutcheson have been married 22 years as they were both 26-years old when they married. They have in their household their four children, 20-year-old Mildred, 19-year-old Henrietta, 17-year-old Allen Jr and 10-year-old Sterling. All of Allen and Strausies children were born in China although they are American citizens. I cannot read the Chinese place names on the census due to bad handwriting. This indicates that the Hutchesons lived in China for at least 10 years, from about 1910 to sometime in the 1920s. The family is living in a rented house at 1720 Milford for which they pay $100 a month, and they have a radio.

In the 1940 US Federal Census for Houston, Harris, Texas, 58-year-old, Texas-born Allen Hutcheson and his 58-year-old, Indiana-born wife Strausie [McCaslin] Hutcheson have in their household their children, 30-year-old Mildred and 20-year-old James Stanley, both were born in China. The family is living in a rented house at 1720 Milford. They were living in Houston in 1935. Allen, Strausie and Mildred have completed four years of college. James has completed two years of college. Allen is employed as medical doctor in private practice, has worked 52 weeks of 1939 and has no wage nor salary, but an outside source of income (his practice). Stausie and Mildred are unemployed and not looking for work. They are housewives. James is unemployed and not looking for work. He is a student.
