In the 1930 US Federal Census for Douglas, Jackson, Kansas, 37-year-old farmer Peter A and his 35-year-old wife Bettie E [Payton] McCaslin married when he was 22 and she was 20 years old. They have in their household their children, 14-year-old Durell A, 10-year-old Jean M, 8-year-old Jennie M, 5-year 11-month old James A, twin 3-year 7-month old daughters, Adlaide A and Adlee M, and 1-year 2-month old Bettie J. Peter is farming rented land. The family does not have a radio. Durell, Jean and Jennie have attended school in the past year and can read. James has not, but he also can read.

The 1940 US Federal Census for Douglas, Jackson, Kansas records 47-year-old, Kansas-born Peter McCaslin, his 45-year-old, Texas-born wife Bettie E [Payton] McCaslin and their Kansas-born children, 24-year-old Durell A, 18-year-old Jennie Marie, 15-year-old James, 13-year-old twin daughters, Adlaide and Adlee, and 11-year-old Betty Jo. They were all living in the same house in 1935 except for Durrell who was living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Peter and Bettie have completed eighth grade. Durrell has completed high school. Jennie Marie has completed one year of college. James has completed two years of high school, the twins have completed eighth grade. Betty Jo has completed sixth grade. Peter is a farmer who has worked 70 hours in the past week and 52 weeks of the past year. Bettie E is a housewife who is not looking for work. Durrell is a worker in a tire factory, has worked 40 hours in the past week and 52 weeks in the past year. The rest of the children are attending school and not looking for work.

"Topeka Capital-Journal", September 24, 2013 Obituary Adelee "Addie" McCaslin Baars Adelee Addie McCaslin Baars, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Midland Care. Her funeral service will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service on September, 26, 2013 at 10:00AM. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Addie was born August 10, 1926 in Hoyt, KS to Peter and Bettie (Payton) McCaslin. She graduated from Hoyt High School in 1944. She married Cassius R. "Chuck" Baars on January 1, 1968 in Topeka. They called Lake Dabinawa, in Jefferson county, home for many years before returning to Topeka in 2000. Addie was employed by Hallmark. She and Cassius owned and operated Shady Grove Mobile Home Park in Topeka for many years. Addie was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Lawrence, Kansas. In addition to her parents, Addie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Cassius R. Baars; and three brothers, Durrell, James and Jean. She is survived by her step-children, Charles (Vivian) Baars of Lawrence, KS, Debra Littlefield of Topeka, KS, Judith Baars and Sandra Graham both of Northwest, AR; three sisters, Jennie Cockrell of Kansas City, KS, Adelaide McWhirt of Topeka, and Bettiejo Hinkle of Kansas City, KS; 7 grand-children; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
