In the 1850 US Federal Census for Montgomery, Jennings, Indiana, 54-year-old, Kentucky-born farmer Cornelius Muster has $200 of personal property. He and his 36-year-old, Indiana-born wife Margaret [McCllelland] McCaslin have in their household their Indiana-born children, 14-year-old William, 13-year-old Elizabeth, 12-year-old Emma B, 10-year-old Richard, 9-year-old John, 7-year-old Smith, 5-year-old Olive and 3-year-old James.

In the 1860 US Federal Census for Lancaster, Jefferson, Indiana, 27-year-old farmer Harvey McCaslin has $908 in personal property, but no land. He and his 22-year-old wife Elizabeth J [Muster] McCaslin have in their household their sons, 2-year-old Howard and 1-year-old George, and Elizabeths brothers, 18-year-old John and 11-year-old James Muster. Harvey is living next door to his parents, Richard and Nancy [Sledd] McCaslin.

In the 1870 US Federal Census for Lancaster, Jefferson, Indiana, 38-year-old farmer H. S. [Harvey Strawther] McCaslin and his 33-year-old wife Elisabeth [Elizabeth Muster] have in their household their children, 11-year-old George, 6-year-old Margaret and 2-year-old Lucy B. Howard is missing from this census and may be presumed to have died.

In the 1880 US Federal Census for Lancaster, Jefferson, Indiana, 47-year-old Harvey S McCaslin and his 42-year-old wife Elisabeth [Elizabeth Muster] have only one son, 21-year-old George in their household. However, their 17-year-old daughter Maggie [Margaret McCaslin] Cline, her 23-year-old farmer husband James B Cline and their 4-month old son Gavin R are living next door. Harvey is also living near the household of his sister-in-law Emily [Fish] McCaslin. There is another McCaslin family in the vicinity, consisting of Indiana-born 36-year-old farmer William F, his 31-year-old Indiana-born wife Margaret and their 11-year-old Indiana-born son Charley C. He is Emily and Harveys nephew as he is the son of Harveys brother James G McCaslin.

in the 1900 US Federal Census for Lancaster, Jefferson, Indiana, 43-year-old farmer James B Clines [Cline] and his 36-year-old wife Maggie [Margaret McCaslin] Cline have been married for 22 years. They have had four children and all four are living with them, 21-year-old Gavin R, 19-year-old Harry C, 11-year-old Jessie M and 4-year-old Harry R. [yes, there are two sons named Harry listed in this household]. Also in their household is Maggies widowed mother, 63-year-old Elizabeth [Muster] McCaslin. Elizabeth has born 4 children but only two are living in 1900. These two are George Seaton and Maggie. Elizabeths last name has been mistranscribed as McBalin. James owns the land he is farming.

From the records of Dodd's funeral home, Paris, Jennings, Indiana-McCaslin Betsey, 70, Feb 13, 1906, [burial] Graham Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth's death certificate has incorrect information as to her maiden name given as McCaslin, the name of her father as C McCaslin, the name of her mother as E McClelland, and the name of her husband as S G McCaslin, however her birth and death dates, and her place of burial are correct. Dr F H Martin reported that her death was due to senile gangrene, which is a form of gangrene occuring particularly in old people, and caused usually by insufficient blood supply due to degeneration of the walls of the smaller arteries. It usually occurs in the foot and leg.

Death Notice-Plain Dealer, North Vernon, Jennings, Indiana, 15 Feb 1906 p2. Mrs Elizabeth McCaslin, aged 70 years, mother of Geo. McCaslin, of this city died at her home near Graham Tuesday. Funeral was held this morning at 11 o'clock and burial in the Graham cemetery.

Obituary-Plain Dealer, North Vernon, Jennings, Indiana, 1 Mar 1906 p4 Elizabeth McCaslin, aged 70 years, died at her home near Com- miskey, February 13, after a linger- ing illness. She was united in marriage to H. S. McCaslin Jan. 29, 1856 and to their union was born four children two of whom died at an early age. Her husband preceded her to the better land several years ago. Mrs. McCaslin united with the Graham Presbyter- ian church 36 years ago. She was a devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor and always ready to help those in need. Besides her two children she leaves three brothers and many friends to mourn for her, and yet we mourn not as those who have no hope for she had com- mitted herself to His keeping and we know that He is able to keep that which is committed unto Him. Funeral services were conducted at the Graham Presbyterian church by Rev. D. C. Simpson and the re- mains were laid to rest in the Graham Cemetery.
