In the 1900 US Federal Census for Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, 32-year-old carpenter John W and his 22-year-old wife Minnie (Sherman) McQuinn are living in a rented house at 730 Sheffield Avenue. In their household are their sons, 3-year-old Donald B and 1-year-old Glen W, and John's father, 58-year-old widowed day laborer William H McQuinn. Their last name is transcribed as McCuin because of the very bad handwriting of the census taker.

In the 1910 US Federal Census for Needham, Johnson, Indiana, 46-year-old [should be 52] farmer George McCaslin has married 33-year-old Minnie Sherman McQuinn after the death of his first wife, Annie Fishback McCaslin. George and Minnie have in their household his 19-year-old farmer son Paul McCaslin, her 13-year-old son Donald McQuinn, and their less than a month old son Thomas L McCaslin.

On 27 April 1942, 45-year-old Donald Bryon McQuinn registered for the World War II draft at the Marion County Local Board No 8. He was living at 430 Massachusetts Ave in Indianapolis and had a telephone (RI 2468). He stated that the person, who would always know where he was, was his mother Minnie Alexander of Franklin, Indiana, which implies that he wasn't married. He was working for the Indianapolis Railways. Donald's physical description was 5' 11", 145 pounds, with a light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair.

Donald died in May 1969 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, 46222. His social security number was issued in Indiana before 1951.
