The descendants of George and Elizabeth Alexander, held a reunuion Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George A McCaslin. About forty were present. Because of the rain, a big table was spread in a wagon shed, where a delightful pic- nic dinner was served. Those pres- ent were: Mr. and Mrs. George Mc- Caslin, Mr. and Mrs. John Z Hol- comb and daughter, Beaulah, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hendricks, Thomas Alexander and family, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. McCaslin and daughter, Clara belle, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hamilton and son Lawrence Hugh, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McCaslin and son Max, Mr. and Mrs. George Alexander and son, Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McCaslin and daughter Elizabeth Louise, and Miss Belle McCaslin. Special guests were T. C. List and Mr. and Mrs. Will Chandlier and son Gordon. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 29-year-old Indiana-born farmer Hugh and his 34-year-old Indiana-born wife Mary [McCaslin] Hamilton have in their household their son, 3-year 4-month old Indiana-born Lawrence, Marys 63-year-old Indiana-born widowed mother, Luna [List] McCaslin, her 87-year-old Indiana-born grandfather, Tunis C List, and 23-year-old Indiana-born practical nurse Mary O Clark. Hugh owns the land that he farms. Everyone in the family except Lawrence can read and write. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 40-year-old farmer Hugh and his 44-year-old wife Mary [McCaslin] Hamilton were, respectively, 25 and 29 years old when they married. In their household are their two schoolboy sons, 13-year-old Lawrence and 8-year-old Lowell, and Marys widowed mother, 74-year-old Luna [List] McCaslin. Hugh owns the land he farms. The family is living in a house on a farm on Banta road. Hugh owns this house and it is worth $2,000. This family was living in the same house in 1935. Hugh completed four years of high school, Luna completed three, Lawrence completed four, Lowell completed three, and Luna completed two. Hugh and Lawrence are "farm operators" and both have worked 85 hours in the week of 24-30 March 1940. Mary is a housewife. Lowell is a student. Luna is recorded as "Other". He was a lifetime resident of Hopewell. He was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Hopewell. His parents were Hugh Hamilton and Mary (McCaslin) Hamilton. He married Virginia Utterback Nov. 9, 1941, in Bargersville. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jerry N. Hamilton of Franklin; a daughter, Brenda Jones of West Chester, Ohio; a brother, Lowell Hamilton of Franklin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was a 1934 graduate of Hopewell High School. He had been a farmer for 15 years. He also had been manager of Indiana Farm Bureau Coop for 15 years and had been employed by Getty Oil Co. in Edinburgh for 17 years. He was a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Union village Order of Eastern Star 584, Hopewell Presbyterian Church were he had served as elder, and past master of Union Village Masonic Lodge 545. The Rev. David E. Lee will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m.Thursday at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted by Union Village Masonic Longe at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.
