In the 1910 US Federal Census for Moral, Shelby, Indiana, 45-year-old Indiana-born attorney David and his 41-year-old Indiana-born school teacher wife Emma B [Weaver] Smith have been married for 10 years and have had one child, 8-year-old Indiana-born school girl Melba, who is living with them. The family is living in a rented house at 282 Washington Avenue.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Shelbyville, Shelby, Indiana , 55-year-old Indiana-born David and 52-year-old Indiana-born Emma [Weaver] Smith and their daughter, 18-year-old Indiana-born Melba E, are living at 602 W Washington in a house David owns, free of mortgage. David is an attorney, Emma is a school teacher in the public school and Melba is a schoolgirl. David's father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Virginia; Emma's father was born in Vermont and her mother in Indiana.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Moral, Shelby, Indiana, 55-year-old David, his 52-year-old wife Emma B, their 28-year-old daughter, Melba Smith and a 65-year-old servant, widowed Emma Tucker are living on a farm on Surpas Gravel Road that David owns. Resided with Barbara Yarber, Morristown, during extended illness.

Born July 4, 1901, Shelbyville, daughter of David and Emma Weaver Smith.

Retired school teacher, Johnson County, Goshen and Milan.

Graduate of Butler University, 1922.

Member of Shelbyville Branch of the American Association of University Women and Mary Mott Green Chapter, DAR.

Attended the former London United Methodist Church.

Survivors: several cousins.
