In the 1865 Kansas State Census for Auburn, Shawnee, Kansas taken on 2 May, 41-year-old soldier Henry [Harvey] McCaslin is away at war, enlisted in the 15th Kansas Regiment, Company H. He owns real estate worth $300 and personal property worth $1,031. This census state that Harvey was born in Kentucky but that is incorrect. His 37-year-old Indiana-born wife Hannah A [Utter] McCaslin is managing the household which contains their children, 14-year-old Indiana-born Mary A, 9-year-old Iowa-born Flora B [Belle] and 3-year-old Kansas-born Milton and two unrelated people, 23-year-old C.S. Teacher Alan(?) J Barker, and 13-year-old Arkansas-born Samuel Henry who is black.

In the 1870 US Federal Census for Buringame, Osage, Iowa, 47-year-old Harvey McCaslin and his 43-year-old wife Hannah Utter McCaslin have three children at home, 18-year-old Mary-born in Indiana, 15-year-old Belle-born in Iowa and 9-year-old Milton-born in Kansas. The birth place of Belle would indicate that the family was in Iowa during the 1860's.

In the 1875 Kansas State Census for Burlingame, Osage, Kansas, 26-year-old Illinois-born farmer M.M. [Milton Mix] Beverly owns $1,000 worth of real estate and $400 worth of personal property. He and his 24-year-old Indiana-born wife, Mary [McCaslin] Mix has in their household their 2-year-old Kansas-born son Frank. Milton came to Kansas from Illinois, but Mary came from Iowa.

In the 1880 US Federal Census for Burlingame, Osage, Kansas, 31-year-old farmer Milton M Beverly and his wife 29-year-old Mary J [McCaslin] Beverly have in their household their children, 3-year-old Frank and 7-month old Grace, and 28-year-old farm hand Jasper Garwood. Living on the next farmstead is Miltons brother, Dwight C Beverly and his family.

In the 1885 US Federal Census for Burlingame, Osage, Kansas, 36-year-old Illinois-born farmer Milton M Beverly came to Kansas from Illinois, but his 34-year-old Indiana-born wife, Mary J [McCaslin] Beverly came to Kansas from Iowa. Milton has not served in the military. Milton and Mary have in their household their Kansas-born children, 12-year-old Frank M, 5-year-old Grace M and 3-year-old Flora B, and their hired man 26-year-old Missouri-born Isaac L Clooper. Living next door is Miltons older brother, 44-year-old New York-born Dwight C Beverly, Dwights 36-year-old New York-born wife, Charlotte A [Bristol] Beverly, their Kansas-born children 16-year-old P.J., 15-year-old Emma C, 13-year-old Sadie L, 8-year-old Ora R. 6-year-old Laura H, 3-year-old Renda L and 1-year-old Lola A, and the hired man 25-year-old Frank Holland, whose birth place is given as Holland. Dwight served in Company G, 52nd Illinois Infantry during the Civil War.

In the 1900 United States Federal Census for Chicago, Cook, Illinois, 51-year-old Milton M Beverly and his 48-year-old wife Mary (McCaslin) Beverly have in their household their children, 27 year old milkman son Frank [he should be 23 according to the 1880 census], 17-year-old Grace (Beverly) VanLoo [she should be 20 according to the 1880 census],and 17-old Flora, Grace's 24-year-old paper hanger husband Eugene VanLoo, and their 11-month old daughter. The family is living in an apartment at 133 East 30th Street. Milton and Mary have been married 26 years. Mary has borne three children and all of them are living with their parents.

In the 1910 US Federal Census or Chicago, Cook, Illinois, 61-year-old Milton and his 57-year-old wife, Mary [McCaslin] Beverly are living with their son-in-law, 33-year-old Eugene Vanloo, 30-year-old daughter Grace Vanloo and grandchildren, 10-year-old Beryl and 6-year-old Eugene Vanloo in an apartment at 361 E. 29th Street. Milton is a foreman in a Dairy.

On 17 January 1912, Mary Jane McCaslin Beverly, of 3104 South Park Avenue, Chicago, Cook, Illinois, signs an affidavit that she is the daughter of Harvey and Hannah [Utter] McCaslin who lived together until Harvey died on 16 November 1911.

In the 1920 US Federal Census or Chicago, Cook, Illinois, 71-year-old Milton and his 67-year-old wife, Mary [McCaslin] Beverly have in their household their 46-year-old son Frank who is a bottler for a milk company. Milton is a "checker at a milk depot". The family is living at 6655 Michigan Avenue in a house they own that has a mortgage on it.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Three Rivers, St Joseph, Michigan, 55-year-old Frank has his parents, 80-year-old Milton and 78-year-old Mary [McCaslin] Beverly, living with him in a rented house ($30/month) at 1380 Fourth Street.

Eightly-three-year-old Mary J Beverly, born 1852 in Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, died 6 Aug 1935 in Three Rivers, St Joseph, Michigan. She was white, married and a housewife. Her parents' names were Harvey McCoslin [sic] and Hannah Utter, both of whose birthplaces were unknown.
