As per Marian Lenhart in 1964: Bob was graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1946 with a Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction. He practiced architecture with a firm in Minneapolis, 1946-1951, then in San Diego, 1952-1956.

He opened his own firm in 1956 in San Diego. Bob was appointed by the Governor to the Designers Qualifications Advisory Committee of the California Board of Architecture Examiners - 1965.

He was a member of the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture, Treasurer, 1962, Vice-President, 1963; and President, 1964. Bob was active in other architecture groups.
