In the 1930 US Federal Census for Hibbing, St Louis, Minnesota, 63-year-old, Iowa-born Fred E Lowry and his 53-year-old, Minnesota-born wife Francis [sic] [Schlick] Lowry were married when he was 28- and she was 18-years old. They have in their household their youngest child, 29-year-old Minnesota-born Blanche. The family is living in one unit of a fourplex at 2831 St Louis Ave, for which Fred pays $18 a month. The family has a radio. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Fred is a foreman in the iron mining industry and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He has not served in the military. Fred's father was born in Iowa and his mother in Indiana. Frances' parents were born in Germany. Blanche's father was born in Iowa, and her mother in Minnesota.
In the 1938, 1940 and 1942 Hibbing City Directory, Fred E Lowry, his wife Frances P Lowry and their daughter Blanche Lowry (listed as a boarder) are recorded as living at 1701 5th Ave E. In 1938, Fred is a janitor for the Oliver i. M. Co. [Oliver Iron Mining Company]. In 1940, Fred is a caretaker for the Oliver I. M Co. In 1942, he has no occupation listed.
Sixty-eight-year, two months, 25 days-old Mrs Francis [sic] Pauline Lowry died of coronary heart disease 21 Jun 1945 at 11 am in General Hospital, Hibbing, St Louis, Minnesota after a two day stay. The attending physician [illegible signature] attended her from 18 Jun 1945 to 21 Jun 1943 [sic] and last saw her alive on that day. Pauline was white, female, a housewife, did not have a social security number and had never served in the military. Her usual residence was 1506 16th Ave East, Hibbing, Minnesota. She was married to 79-year-old Fred E Lowry. She was born 25 Mar 1877 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Gustave Schlick and Matilda Johanna Meerfield, both born in Germany. The informant was her son-in-law, Wilbur Anderson of Hibbing, Minnesota. W J Ryder of W J Ryder & Son, Hibbing, Minnesota, was the funeral director. Burial was 23 Jun 1945.
