Frederick Everett Lowry was described by his granddaughter, Eleanor Johnson as a little skinny fellow - sort of like an Irish leprechaun. He had a real Irish wit and the world's longest vocabulary. His favorite saying was "Everyone is a wee bit daft except for thee and me -- and sometimes I have my doubts about thee" He was a member of a Silver Coronet band.

William Lowry is listed in the 1870 US Federal Census for Osage, Mitchell, Iowa as Lowrey. He is a blacksmith and has real estate worth $800 and personal property worth $500. Living with him are Eliza (26 - keeping house, his second wife), Julia P. (18 - milliner), Annabel (15), Charles (12), Frederick (3) and Frank (1)

In the 1880 US Federal Census, William (who is a blacksmith) is still living in Osage Mitchell, Iowa, with his wife Eliza E, sons, Charles (who is a sewing machine agent), Frederick, Frank, Arthur W (at home), and daughter Eva S (age 1).

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Lakeside, Cottonwood, Minnesota, 33-year-old Minnesota-born Frederic E and his 23-year-old Minnesota-born wife Frances [Schlick] Lowry have been married five years and have had two children, both of whom are living wih them. These Minnesota-born children are 3-year-old Mildred and 2-year-old Dorothy. The family is living in a house that Frederick owns, free of mortgage. Frederick is a "stationary engineer". He and Frances can read, write and speak English. Frederick's father was born in Indiana and his mother in Vermont. Frances' parents were born in Germany. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Hibbing, St Louis, Minnesota, 63-year-old, Iowa-born Fred E Lowry and his 53-year-old, Minnesota-born wife Francis [sic] [Schlick] Lowry were married when he was 28- and she was 18-years old. They have in their household their youngest child, 29-year-old Minnesota-born Blanche. The family is living in one unit of a fourplex at 2831 St Louis Ave, for which Fred pays $18 a month. The family has a radio. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Fred is a foreman in the iron mining industry and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He has not served in the military. Fred's father was born in Iowa and his mother in Indiana. Frances' parents were born in Germany. Blanche's father was born in Iowa, and her mother in Minnesota.

In 1938, Fred is a janitor for the Oliver i. M. Co. [Oliver Iron Mining Company]. In 1940, Fred is a caretaker for the Oliver I. M Co. In 1942, he has no occupation listed.

In the 1948 Hibbing City Directory, Fred Lowry and his daughter Blanche Lowry are living at 1506 16th Av E. Neither have any occupation listed. Frances Lowry is not listed as she died 21 Jun 1947.
