Shared note | he Franklin Democrat, Friday, March 1, 1895, page 1, column 3 Death of D. L. Deming Dillard L. Deming, one of the best known and most highly respected men of Johnson county, died at his home in Edinburg at 4:30 Wednesday morning, after an illness of many months, of softening of the brain. The disease has been coming on him gradually for perhaps more than a year but he was not compelled to take to his bed until a few days ago. Some years ago deceased was a resident of this city and while here was engaged in the agricultural implement business with J. M. Mullendore. While here he joined the Franklin Commandery Knights Templars and was held in the highest esteem by his brother Knights. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. of Edinburg, in which order he had held many high offices and was always looked upon as a model Odd Fellow. He had served as trustee of Blue River township and also as a member of the school board of Edinburg, both of which places he filled to the entire satisfaction of the public. He leaves a wife, two children, mother and two sisters and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index 1882-1920 records on page 51, referencing Book H-17, page 40, that Dillard L. Deming, a white male, was 40-years-old when he died on 27 Feb 1895 in Edinburg. Lois Johnson Johnson County INGenWeb Coordinator |
