Athenia (Martindale) Park, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Todd-Aikens Health Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Bargersville.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Champaign, Ill. Her parents were William Andy and Margaret Jane "Maggie" (Wiles) Martindale. She married Kenneth Park on Nov. 11, 1936, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death June 25, 1997. Survivors include a son, Gerald E. "Jerry" Park of Stewart, Fla.; two daughters, June Marie Haymaker and Margaret Ann Parsley, both of Franklin; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eskel, Les and V.V. Martindale.
She was a 1935 graduate of Union Township High School.
She was a homemaker and was employed by Morgan Canning Factory in Franklin as a scale lady for 29 years.
She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church, Friends of Loyalty Sunday school class, Nimble Thimble Quilters of Johnson County, Providence Homemakers and Gourmet Quilters of Providence.
The Revs. Stan Icenogle and Darryl Bolen will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Greenwood.
