Shared note | Henry Cunningham in "John Winchester of New England and Some of his Descendants" pages 66-67, names her as Diana Hart, which may be due to confusion with the county she was born in Hart, Kentucky. Confirmation of her correct name may be found in the 1880 census where her widowed mother, Sarah Melton is living with her. Her first name is spelled Dianna in some of the censuses and on her obituary, so I believe it is the correct spelling. As shown in the 1880 US Federal Census for Granby, Newton, Missouri, Dianna is a widow and her widowed mother, Sarah Lemons Melton is living with her. In her household are two boarders who are miners, John Harker and James Charlton. Also in this census is the information that her father was born in Virginia and her mother in Kentucky. In 1900, Dianna is living with John and Sarah (Winchester) Robinson (written Robertson by the census taker), her grandson, John H Robinson and his wife Mollie at 65 Valley Street. Diana had borne ten children and six are alive in 1900. Obituary from the Newton County News for 12 December 1901: Mrs. Dianna Winchester. Grandma Winchester of Granby, mother of Mrs. John Robinson [sic Robertson], died 9 December 1901. |
