In the 1910 US Federal Census for Monticello, White, Indiana 46-year-old, Indiana-born house carpenter Anthony Mikesell is head of a household that contians his 41-year-old, Indiana-born wife Dora [Nancy Ledora Hornbeck] Mikesell and their youngest child, 15-year-old, Indiana-born Herbert Mikesell. Anthony and Dora were married when they each were 21-years old. This is a first marriage for both. Dora has borne three children and all three are living. The family is living in a rented house on Jefferson Street. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Herbert has attended school in the past year. Anthony's parens were born in Indiana, Dora's father was born in Indiana and her mother in Ohio. Herbert's parents were born in Indiana.

Herbert Wayne Miksell [sic] and Edna Hemphill marry 8 May 1921 in Indiana. His father's name was Anthony Wayne Miksell [sic] and his mother's name was Eldora Hornbeck. Edna's father's name was Guy Harvey Hemphill and her mother's name Emma Wortman [sic].

The 1930 US Federal Census for Monticello, White, Indiana, 33-year-old, Indiana-born Herbert Mikesell, his 31-year-old, Indiana-born Edna [Hemphill] Mikesell, and their Indiana-born children, 8-year-old Wayne, 6-year-old Robert, 3-year-old Marjorie, and 2-month-old Richard E Mikesell. Herbert and Edna were married when he was 23- and she was 21-year-old, respectively. The family is living in a rented duplex at 123 Railroad for which Herbert pays $15 a month. Herbert is a laborer in a thread mill, and was employed on the last regularly scheduled work day. He is a veteran of WWI.

He is 46-years-old, born in White County, Indiana on 18 Sep 1895. He doesn't have a telephone. The person who will always know his address is his son Wayne Mikesell, of Monticello, Indiana. Herbert was employed by Kingsbury Ordinance plant of Kingsbury, Indiana. He is white, 5 feet 10 inches, 165 pounds with grey eyes, brown hair, a light complexion and a birthmark on his hip.

Broadway, Monticello, White, Indiana at about 2 pm on 11 Jan 1970 of a coronary occulsion, aged 74 years. He was male, white, and divorced, a retired laborer who had worked for Indiana State Highway. His fathers name was Anthony Mikesell and his mothers name Dora Hornbeck. The informant was Herbert's son Wayne Mikesell of Box 79, LaSalle, Colorado. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery [sic], Monticello, Indiana on 14 Jan 1970, Aufenberg, Funeral Director.
