In the 1900 US Federal Census for Bethlehem, Cass, Indiana, 61-year-old Indiana-born Nathaniel Kinnaman and his 58-year-old Indiana-born wife Sarah E [Staley] Kinnaman have been married 24-years. Sarah has borne one child who is living, 17-year-old Indiana-born Jesse F, who has attended school six months of the past year. Also in this household is Sarah's brother, 38-year-old Indiana-born farm laborer Cornelius Staley, Nathaniel's daughter-in-law, age unknown, Pennsylvania-born widow Carrie [maiden name unknown] Kinnaman [this implies either that Sarah bore more than one child or that Nathaniel has been married twice] and Carrie's son, 9-year-old Vincent H Kinnaman. Carrie has borne two children, only Vincent is living. Vincent has also attended school 6 months of the past year. Everyone except Vincent is literate and speaks English. Nathaniel's father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Ohio; Sarah's father was born in Kentucky and her mother in South Carolina; Jesse's parents were born in Indiana; Cornelius' father was born in Kentucky and his mother in South Carolina; Carrie's parents were born in Pennsylvania; Vincent's parents were born in Indiana [sic].

Obituary, Logansport Pharos-Tribune, Saturday, April 7, 1923 Mrs. Sarah Kinnaman, 81 years of age, died this morning at 4 o'clock, at the home of her son, J. S. Kinnaman in South Bend. De- ceased was the widow of Nathan Kinnaman. The remains will be brought to Logansport Sunday morning over the Vandalia and will be taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Robinson, 1535 McCarthy street. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Spring Creek church.
