In the 1880 US Federal Census for Scott, Clay, Nebraska, 39-year-old [sic] Vermont born farmer Spencer and his 39-year-old [sic] Vermont-born wife Ursula [maiden name unknown] Taylor have in their household their children 17-year-old farmer Alfred L, 13-year-old farmer Shirley, 9-year-old Giralda, 6-year-old Clinton, and 4-year-old Spencer. Alfred and Shirley were born in Illinois, whereas Giralda, clinton and Spencer were born in Iowa. This would imply that the family moved to Nebraska after 1876 but before 1880. Shirley, Giralda and Clinton have attended school in the past year. Everyone's parents were born in Vermont.
