On 22 Sep 1880, 23-year-old Mr William Temple and 26-year-old Miss Clarissa [sic] Taylor, both of Crawford County, Arkansas, applied for a marriage license at the Crawford County Clerk of Courts' Office. They were married the next day (23 Sep 1880) by Gennings [?] Coleman, "a regular ordained Minister F". The marriage was "recorded in Van Buren, Ark".

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Oliver Springs, Crawford, Arkansas, 44-year-old [sic] Arkansas-born farmer William A and his 47-year-old [sic] Alabama-born wife Clasy [sic Clarrissa Taylor] Temple have been married nineteen years. Clarrissa has borne seven children and all are living with them. These Arkansas-born children are 17-year-old farm laborer James, 15-year-old Ethel, 13-year-old Martha, 12-year-old Lizzie R, 10-year-old Charles, 6-year-old Ella and 5-year-old Cara. James and Ethel have attended school three months of the past year, while Martha, Lizzie, Charles, and Ella have attended four months of the past year. Everyone can read, write and speak English except the two youngest children, Ella and Cara. William is farming rented land. William's father was born in Tennessee and his mother in Virginia; Clarrissa' father was born in Alabama and her mother in Georgia. The children's father was born in Arkansas and their mother in Alabama, except for Lizzie who has both parents recorded as being born in Arkansas [sic]

In the 1910 US Federal Census for Oliver Springs, Crawford, Arkansas, 52-year-old Arkansas-born farmer William A and his 56-year-old Alabama-born wife Clara A [sic Clarrissa Taylor] Temple have been married thirty-one years [sic]. Clarrissa has borne eight children, but only seven are living. The Arkansas-born children living with them are 21-year-old Lizzie, 19-year-old farm laborer Charles, 17-year-old Ella and 15-year-old Carrie [sic]. Ella and Carrie have attended school in the past year. Everyone can read, write and speak English. William is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. William's father was born in Tennessee, his mother's birthplace is left blank; Clarrissa' father was born in Tennessee [sic] and her mother in Georgia. The children's father was born in Arkansas and their mother in Alabama.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Oliver Springs, Crawford, Arkansas, 62-year-old Arkansas-born farmer W A [William A] and his 64-year-old Alabama-born wife Claricy [sic Clarrissa Taylor] Temple have in their household their 24-year-old Arkansas-born unmarried daughter Carrie, and their 14-year-old Arkansas-born granddaughter Flora Bell. Flora has attended school in the past year. William is a farmer. Carrie is a laborer in a garment factory. Everyone is literate and speaks English. William's parents were born in Tennessee; Clarrissa' father was born in Tennessee [sic] and her mother in Georgia.; Carrie's father was born in Arkansas and her mother in Alabama; Flora's parents were born in Arkansas. Living next door is William and Clarissa's son, 29-year-old Arkansas-born farmer Charles and his family which consists of his 26-year-old Arkansas-born wife Fleida and their Arkansas-born children, 7-year-old Guy, 3-year 4-month-old Heloise [sic] and 4-month-old Lavelle.
