Shared note
|
In the 1880 US Federal Census for Upper, Crawford, Arkansas, 42-year-old Virginia-born farmer Jacob and his 38-year-old Arkansas-born wife Spicey [McCaslin] Elkins have in their household their children, 15-year-old Evaline [Matilda Evaline], 14-year-old Elamer [sic Elmer] 8-year-old Alice, 6-year-old Jane, 4-year-old Hiram, 2-year-old Frank and 1-year-old Carissa. Evaline was born in Idaho [sic], Elmer in Oregon, Alice, Jane, Hiram and Carissa in Arkansas, but Frank in Missouri, which would indicate that Jacob and Spicey moved to Idaho before 1865, went to Oregon before 1866, returned to Arkansas by 1872, went to Missouri after 1876 and returned to Arkansas before 1879. Jacob's parents were born in Virginia, Spicey's father was born in Indiana and her mother in Arkansas, and the children's father was born in Virginia and their mother in Arkansas. |
