In the 1880 US Federal Census for Upper, Crawford, Arkansas, 42-year-old Virginia-born farmer Jacob and his 38-year-old Arkansas-born wife Spicey [McCaslin] Elkins have in their household their children, 15-year-old Evaline [Matilda Evaline], 14-year-old Elamer [sic Elmer] 8-year-old Alice, 6-year-old Jane, 4-year-old Hiram, 2-year-old Frank and 1-year-old Carissa. Evaline was born in Idaho [sic], Elmer in Oregon, Alice, Jane, Hiram and Carissa in Arkansas, but Frank in Missouri, which would indicate that Jacob and Spicey moved to Idaho before 1865, went to Oregon before 1866, returned to Arkansas by 1872, went to Missouri after 1876 and returned to Arkansas before 1879. Jacob's parents were born in Virginia, Spicey's father was born in Indiana and her mother in Arkansas, and the children's father was born in Virginia and their mother in Arkansas.

In the 1892 Washington State Census for Thurston County, 34-year-old Indiana-born M F [Millard Filmore] and is 23-year-old Arkansas-born wife Alice [Elkins] Baker have in their household two Washington-born children, 4-year-old Herbert and 2-year-old Bert [sic Burl B]. Millard has no profession listed.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Lucerne, Hanford, Kings, Caifornia, 40-year-old Indiana-born Milland F and his 31-year-old Arkansas-born wife Alice M [Elkins] Baker have been married 13 years and have had four children, all are living. These Washington-born children are 11-year-old Herbert H, 9-year-old Beryl [sic Burl], 7-year-old Morton and 6-year-old Gladys. All of the children have attended school eight months of the last year. Millard, Alice, and Gladys can read, write and speak English. Millard is a section man for the railroad. Millard's parents were born in Indiana [sic]; Alice's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Arkansas; the children's father was born in Indiana and their mother in Arkansas.

In the 1910 US Federal Census for Lucerne, Kings, California, 52-year-old Indiana-born farmer M F [Millard Filmore] and his 41-year-old Arkansas-born wife M A [Alice M Elkins] Baker have been married 22 years and have had five children, all are living. These children are 21-year-old Herbert, 19-year-old Burl, 17-year-old Morton, 16-year-old Gladys and 8-year-old Orval. Herbert, Beryl, Morton and Gladys were born in Washington State whereas Orval was born in California, indicating that the family moved to California after 1900 but before 1902. The family is living in a home that Millard owns, but with a mortgage. Gladys and Orval have attended school in the past year. Millard is "working out" as a hired hand. Herbert and Beryl are machinists in a machine shop, and Morton is a clerk in a grocery store. None of them have had any months without work in the past year. Millard and Alice are recorded as being able to read. Their children can read and write. Everyone can speak English. Millard's father was born in Indiana and his mother in Pennsylvania [sic]; Alice's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Arkansas; the children's father was born in Indiana and their mother in Arkansas.

In the California Voter Registrations for Kings County, California for 1920, Millard F Baker, farmer, his wife Mrs Mary A Baker, housewife, their son Morton H Baker, Electrician, and Morton's wife Mrs Ruth M Baker, housewife, are living at Rt D, Box 64, Hanford, and are registered in the Lucerne Precinct. Millard, Mary and Morton are Republicans and Ruth is a Democrat.

In the 1920 US Federal Census for Lucerne, Kings, California, 61-year-old Indiana-born farmer Millard F and his 50-year-old Arkansas-born wife Mary A [Alice M Elkins] Baker have in their household their children, 29-year-old Washington-born Burl B and 18-year-old California-born Orval T. Millard owns the land he is farming, free of mortgage. Burl is a garage mechanic. Orval is a plumber's apprentice. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Millard's parents were born in Indiana [sic]; Alice's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Arkansas; the children's father was born in Indiana and their mother in Arkansas. Living next door is Millard and Alice's son, Morton H Baker and his family.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Hanford, Kings, Caifornia, 61-year-old Indiana-born farmer Millard [transcribed as Mildred] F and his 50-year-old Arkansas-born wife Mary A [Alice M Elkins] Baker have apparently unrelated children as boarders in their household. These California-born children are 9-year-old Florence and 8-year-old Irene White, and 8-year-old Joe, 5-year-old Richard and 4-year one-month old Harold Giveden. The relationship of these children to the Bakers is unknown. Florence, Irene and Joe have attended school in the past year. Millard and Alice can read, write and speak English. Millard owns the land he is farming and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He has not served in the military. Millard's parents were born in Indiana [sic]; Alice's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Arkansas; Florence and Irene's father was born in the United States and their mother in Missouri; Joe, Richard, and Harold's father was born in Missouri and their mother in the United States.
