In the 1900 US Federal Census for Woodville, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, age unknown, Missouri-born [sic] Henry [William Henry] and his 36-year-old Arkansas-born wife Jennie [sic] [Virginia Lynch] McCaslin have been married 19 years and have had nine children, five are living. These five Indian Territory-born children are 17-year-old James W, 14-year-old Mary, 13-year-old Bell, 8-year-old Robert and 5-year-old Bennie. The family is living in a house that Henry owns. Henry is a stone mason. He can read, but not write English. Jennie is illiterate as is their oldest son James. Mary is literate. Henry, Jennie, James and Mary are recorded as being able to speak English. The place of birth of Henry's parents is unknown, Jennie's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Kentucky and the children's father was born in Missouri [sic] and their mother in Arkansas.s3846

Robert was recorded twice on the 1910 US Federal Census: First - in the 1910 US Federal Census or McAlester, Pittsburg, Oklhoma, 48-year-old, Missouri-born [sic] Henry [William Henry] and his 48-year-old Arkansas-born wife Virginia [Lynch] McCaslin have been married 29 years. Virginia has borne thirteen children, eight are living. The Oklahoma-born children living with them are 18-year-old Robert W [sic], 16-year-old Bennie F., 7-year-old Lottie, 5-year-old Elmer and 3-year-old Harry [sic Henry].The family is living at 200 West Monroe Street in a rented house. The parents and the oldest children can speak English but none of them are literate. None of the children have attended school in the past year. Henry is a common laborer and has had no months without work in the past year. Henry's parents were born in Missouri [sic]; Virginia's parents were born in Virginia [sic], and the children's father was born in Missouri [sic] and their mother in Arkansas.s4728

Second - in the 1910 US Federal Census for Franklin, Lake, South Dakota, 36-year-old Illinois-born farmer Charles and his 25-year-old Texas-born wife Mary [McCaslin Shoemaker] Eutin have been married one year. Mary has born two children. Both are living with them, 6-year-old Oklahoma-born James and 4-year-old Texas-born Ree [Royce] Shoemacher as is Charles' daughter by his previous marriage, 9-year-old Minnesota-born Mable Eutin, Also living with the Eutins is Mary's 19-year-old Texas-born brother, Robert McCaslin who is working as their hired man. All the adults are literate and speak English. Mary and James have attended school in the past year. Charles is farming rented land. Charles' parents were born in Germany; Mary and Robert's father was born in Texas [sic] and their mother in Oklahoma [sic]; Mable's father was born in Illinois and her mother in Texas. James and Royce's father was born in Sweden and their mother in Texas.s4722

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Henryetta, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, 40-year-old Texas-born Robert and his 30-year-old Oklahoma-born wife Althea [Johnson Moehle] McCaslin were married for the first time when he was 34- and she was 23-years old. This is Robert's first marriage, bur Althea's second. [Her first was to Adolph Moehle]. They have in their household Althea's 9-year-old Oklahoma-born son by her first husband, Herman Moehle recorded as Herman McCaslin, and their two Oklahoma-born sons, 5-year-old Monroe and one-year one-month old W. H, [William Henry]. The family is living in a rented house for which Robert pays $7 a month in rent. Herman has attended school in the past year. Robert is a barber and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He has served in the military in WWI. Robert's parents were born in Arkansas [sic]; Althea's father was forn in Missouri, and her mother in Texas; the children's father was born in Texas and their mother in Oklahoma [sic].s4734

From the Amarillo Daily News, Morning edition, Amarillo, Potter, Texas, 25 Jun 1943, page 3: "BROTHERS ARE IN SERVICE Two sons of Robert McCaslin, 115 South Lipscomb Street, who is a veteram of World War I, are enlisted for service in this war. Monroe McCaslin is now in dry dock at Fremerton, Wash. [sic] He has previously served on a battleship in the Iceland area. His brother, W. H. McCaslin, is taking miltary [sic] training at Phoenix, Ariz.[sic]" Transcribed by Lois Johnsons4446

From The Nevada State Journal, Reno, Washoe, Nevada, Sunday, November 23, 1969: "Robert McCaslin A 26-year resident of Reno, Robert McCaslin, 81, died Fri- day in a local hospital. Mr. McCaslin, who lived at 1059 Haskell St., was born Oct. 20, 1888, in Texas. He was an Army veteran of World War I and a restaurant worker. He is survived by brothers Ben McCaslin, Sparks, and El- mer McCaslin and a sister Mary Giser [sic], both of Oklahoma. The Funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at O'Brien-Rogers and Crosby Mortuary. Burial will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery."
