The family is living on Main Street. Jake Sr is farming rented acreage. Hallie and Arlie are telephone operators. Lewis and the younger Jake are farm laborers. Laura and Harold have attended school in the past year. Everyone except the two youngest children, Fallis and Woodrow, can read write and speak English. Everyone's parents were born in Missouri.
