Obituary - Spry Funeral Home & Crematory Harold V. Wainscott (October 18, 1919 - February 2, 2010 Harold V. Wainscott passed away on February 2, 2010 at Huntsville Hospital at the age of 90. He was born in Perry Park, Kentucky on October 18, 1919, the son of William and Ruth Wainscott, and grew up primarily in Carrollton, Kentucky where he graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937. He married Adreene Hewitt in 1941 and had two children in their long, happy marriage. After a tour of duty in the United States Army during World War II, he spent most of his working life in civil service for the U.S. Government at Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison, Indiana, the Army Ballistic Missile Agency at Redstone Arsenal, and NASA at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. Harold and his family moved to Alabama in 1958 where he resided until his death. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church since 1960 where he was a devoted Deacon for decades. A deeply religious man, he gave much tireless service to his church and the community, especially charity work, and will be missed by many whom he helped over the years. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Adreene Wainscott, two children, Netta Shannon and Ronald Wainscott, as well as six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville where the family will receive friends Saturday from 11AM to 1PM. Funeral service will be at 1PM at Spry Chapel. Interment will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
