She has in her household her Indiana-born children, 20-year-old Indiana-born school teacher Hettie [sic Charlotte Esther], 15-year-old Martha and 12-year-old John. Martha and John have attended school in the past year. Living next door is Marian's son 27-year-old Indiana-born farm laborer Hugh Snodgrass, Hugh's wife, 22-year-old Indiana-born Eliza [Gray], and their two Indiana-born children, 2-year-old Mary and 7-month old Irene.

In the 1880 US Federal Census for Washington, Clark, Indiana, 37-year-old Indiana-born Hugh C and his 29-year-old Indiana-born wife Lida A [Eliza A Gray] Snodgrass have in their household their Indiana-born children, 10-year-old Marietta, 8-year-old Irene, 6-year-old Cordelia, 4-year-old Euphemia, and 2-year-old George T, and Lida's mother 68-year-old South Carolina-born widow, Mary [maiden name unknown] Gray. Hugh's parents were born in Indiana, Lida's father was born in Ireland and her mother in South Carolina, and Mary's parents in South Carolina.

In the 1900 US Federal Census for Nevada, Ness, Kansas, 58-year-old Indiana-born farmer Hugh and his 53-year-old Indiana-born wife Lydia [sic] [Gray] Snodgrass have been married 33 years and have had seven children, four are living. The only one living with them is their youngest daughter, 17-year-old Indiana-born Pearl. Pearl has attended school 4 months of the past year. Hugh is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Hugh's father was born in Indiana and his mother in Pennsylvania. Lidia's father was born in South Carolina and her mother in Kentucky [sic]. Pearl's parents were born in Indiana.

In the 1910 US Federal Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas 68-year-old Indiana-born Hugh Snodgrass has been married for 42 years while his 63-year-old Indiana-born wife Lyda A [Gray] Snodgrass has been married for 46 years. This is a first marriage for both so someone is confused. They have had seven children but only four are living. They are living in a house Hugh owns, mortgage free. Hugh has none as his occupation. Both can read and write English. Hugh's parents were born in the United States and Lyda's in Ireland [sic].

In the 1915 Kansas State Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas, 52-year-old Illinois-born farmer O L [sic Orson] and his 42-year-old wife Indiana-born Cordy [sic] [Snodgrass] Sidebottom have in their household their Kansas-born children 18-year-old school teacher LIda, 16-year-old Felix, 12-year-old Loren, 7-year-old Ira, 6-year-old Inez and 3-year-old Ralph. Felix, Loren, Ira, Inez, and Ralph [sic] have attended school in the past year. Oscar is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. Orson came to Kansas from Iowa and Cordie from Indiana. Living one farm away are Cordie's parents, 74-year-old Indiana-born H C [Hugh] and 68-year-old Indiana-born L A [Lida Ann Gray] Snodgrass. Hugh owns the land he is farming, free of mortgage. Both Hugh and Lida came to Kansas from Indiana.

After Hugh Snodgrass died in 1929, his widow Lida A Snodgrass applied for a pension on 16 Nov 1929.

In the 1930 US Federal Census for Brownell, Waring, Ness, Kansas, 83-year-old Indiana-born widow Lydia [Eliza (Lida) Ann Gray] Snodgrass was 20 when she married. She owns the house she lives in worth $3,500. She does not have a radio. Her father was born in Ireland and her mother in the United States. Living next door are 78-year-old Indiana-born Thomas A and 75-year-old Mattie L [Martha Isobel Snodgrass] Swan. Martha is the sister of Eliza's husband Hugh Collins Snodgrass. Thomas and Martha married when he was 31-years old and she was 28-years old. They are living in a house that Thomas owns, worth $3,000. Thomas' parents were born in the United States. Martha's father was born in Pennsylvania [sic] and her mother in Virginia [sic]. Everyone can read, write and speak English. No one has a job.
