David is a drayman and Fannie is keeping house. Jessie is a stenographer, Rosco is a railroad clerk and Silas is a railroad flagman; none have had any months out of work in the past year. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Fannie is working as a servant for a private family. She has borne three children and all are living [sic]. Rosco and Alevia have been married two years. Alevia has borne no children. All are literate and speak English. John's father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother in Indiana; Fannie's parents were born in the United States [sic]; Ursule's and Rosco's parents were born in Indiana; Alevia's father was born in Alabama and her mother in Kentucky. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Jefferson, Clark, Indiana, 58-year-old Iowa-born widower Charles W Bottorff and his cousin, 63-year-old Indiana-born widow Fannie [Blizzard] Hemphill are living on a farm that Charles owns, free of mortgage. Charles is a farmer doing general farming. Both are literate and speak English. Charles parents were born in Indiana; Fannie's father was born in Kentucky and her mother in Indiana. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Jefferson, Clark, Indiana, 69-year-old Iowa-born widower Charles W Bottorff and his cousin, 73-year-old Indiana-born widow Fannie [Blizzard] Hemphill are living in a rented house at 318 Tenth for which Charles pays $35 a month in rent. Charles was married for the first time at age 23 and Fannie was married for the first time at age 24. Charles is a steamboat pilot, but hasn't worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. They have a lodger, 54-year-old unmarried Drusilla F Cook, who is a saleslady for cleaning products. She has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Everyone is literate and speaks English. Charles parents were born in Indiana; Fannie's father was born in Kentucky and her mother in Indiana; Drusilla's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in England.
