In the 1870 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 39-year-old farmer Henry H Luyster owns $6,400 worth of real estate and $3,080 worth of personal property. He and his 37-year-old wife Mary I [Carnahan] have in their household their children, 14-year-old James B, 9-year-old Frank E and 3-year-old Ella, and a hired man, 20-year-old Samuel Lagrange. James, Frank and Samuel have attended school in the past year. In the 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana 47-year-old farmer Henry H Luyster and his wife 43-year-old Mary I [Mary Isobelle Carnahan] have their two youngest children in their household, 18-year-old farmer Frank E and 13-year-old school girl Ella S. Their oldest son 24-year-old James, his 24-year-old wife Hattie [McCaslin] and their daughter 1-year-old Jessie Luyster are living on a nearby farm as their census information is recorded on the same page. In the 1900 US Federal Census for Clark, Johnson, Indiana, 36-year-old farmer William W Eastburn rents the land he farms. He and his wife of twelve years, 32-year-old Ella S [Luyster] Eastburn have had five children but only three are living, 6-year-old Mark, 4-year-old Harrison and 3-year-old Belle. Mark has attended school three months in the past year. William is illiterate. William's father was born in South Carolina and his mother in Indiana.
