In the 1850 US Federal Census for Perry, Marion, Indiana, 50-year-old, Indiana-born [sic] frmer Henry List and his 25-year-old Indiana-born wife, Louisa [Mars] List have in their household their Indiana-born children, 6-year-old Marion, 4-year-old John, 2-year-old Geo [sic] and 0-years-old Rachel [transcribed as Richard and recorded as a male, but Louisa is also recorded as a male]. In the 1860 US Federal Census for Goose Creek, Piatt, Illinois, 65-year-old farmer John D and his 63-year-old wife Nancy [Mary Shively] List have in their household two of their sons, 35-year-old Geo [George] and 28-year-old Wm B [William B] and two of their grandchildren 15-year-old F M [Francis Marion] and 10-year-old R A [Rachel Anna], children of Henry Shively List and Louisa Jane Mars List. In the 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana, 37-year-old Indiana-born farmer Elanson G and his 30-year-old Indiana-born wife Rachel A [List] McCaslin have in their household their 3-year-old Indiana-born daughter Margaret L, 19-year-old Indiana-born domestic servant Louisa A Kiskey and 13-year-old Iowa-born hired farm laborer Charley A Hays who has attended school in the past year. Elanson's father was born in Kentucky and his mother in New Jersey; Rachel's father was born in Kentucky and her mother in Indiana. In the 1900 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana 50-year-old Indiana-born widow Annie R [List] McCaslin is recorded as having been married 28 years [sic she was married 14 years] and having born one child who is living with her, 23-year-old Indiana-born Margaret L. Anna does not have a profession listed, but owns the farm where they live, free of mortgage. Both Anna's and Margaret's parents were born in Indiana. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana 58-year-old Indiana-born widow Anna R [List] McCaslin is running a dairy and poultry farm with the assistance of her 33-year-old Indiana-born daughter, Margaret L McCaslin. Anna owns the farm clear of mortgage. Margaret has had no months when she was unemployed. Franklin Evening Star, Thursday, May 23, 1912, page 1 column 3 A GOOD WOMAN Stricken Down at Her Home by Heart Failure The many friends of Mrs. Anna McCaslin were shocked Wednesday evening when they learned that she had been suddenly called from them at her home about two miles due south of Franklin through an attack of heart disease from which she had suffered recently. Mrs. McCaslin had suffered during the past few months from heart weakness. Tuesday night she was overcome for a time but during Wednesday she was about her usual domestic duties. Between three and four o' she suffered from illness of the stomach and lay down and continued to grow worse and died while her physician was on his way to her relief. Mrs. Anna McCaslin was a daughter of Henry and Louisa Myers List, and was born in Marion county, Indiana May 27th, 1850. She would have been sixty-two years of age next Monday. She was married to Gilbert McCaslin, October 9th, 1872. He died April 25th 1884. To them were born one daughter, Margaret who had continued to live with her mother. A brother, Francis M. List of Ohio, is also living, together with other relatives in this vicinity. Mrs. McCaslin had for many years been a member of the Franklin Presbyterian church. She was a sincere, earnest Christian woman and when health and weather permitted rarely missed the morning services. Her death is a severe shock to the faithful daughter, who has been her mother's constant companion and help, as well as a shock to the many friends of the family in the county. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the house, Rev. B. W. Tyler conducting the services. Burial at Greenlawn.
