Shared note
In the 1850 US Federal Census for Liberty, Fulton, Indiana, 33-year-old Kentucky-born farmer Joseph H McCaslin has $300 worth of real estate. He and his 32-year-old Kentucky-born wife Ann [Shepherd] have in their household their Indiana-born children, 14-year-old Samuel, 11-year-old Nancy, 9-year-old Martha, 7-year-old Rhoda, 5-year-old Henry, 3-year-old Elizabeth, and 10-month old Mary E. Joseph H McCaslin (McCasland) and his wife Ann cannot be found anywhere in the public record after 1850. In 1860, their children (with the exception of Martha, who also disappears) are scattered to unrelated families in Jefferson, Jennings and Jackson counties, working as hired help. This leads me to believe that both Joseph and Ann have died before 1860.
